Dr. Shelby Bettencourt is originally from Bethesda, Maryland, and now calls Norfolk, Virginia, home.
She earned her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from the University of Maryland and went on to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.
As a recent graduate, Dr. Bettencourt is passionate about providing high-quality, compassionate care to her patients. Her clinical interests include soft tissue surgery, preventative medicine, dentistry, and creating a low-stress environment for pets during their visits. She is also a certified Cat Friendly Veterinarian, dedicated to improving the veterinary experience for feline patients.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Bettencourt enjoys taking her rescue dog, Tito, for walks on the beach, practicing yoga, trying new restaurants, reading, and exploring local coffee shops in the Norfolk area.
